Yesterday I was alerted to the fact that the Naperville Half Marathon price increased by $10 to $85. Then you got a coupon code to get $10 off this morning to register??? No announcement in the price change either. Just poof there it is.
On their Facebook page they removed ALL of the negative posts. Removed their first announcement of the prices, removed the race directors crappy response and they removed the ability to post on their FB page ( I couldn't find a way to). I can't believe how ballsy/shady this race has been.
Registration started this morning. Like I said in my original post that this race would sell out. As of right now (1pm) they say they are 75% of the way to being sold out. I was right on that. They knew there crowd and I bet the RD is kicking himself for caving on the price. I am not willing to shell out that much for a first time event only 30 mins from my house that's in Naperville. I know one person who has signed up for it because she lives like 5 mins from it so she'll be my guinea pig to ask questions in November.
Moving on....
We were asked last week to come to our daughters school this morning for a presentation. It was a surprise for her. Well honestly I didn't think it would be an academic award because they don't do it for 1st graders yet. But this was a character award. When she saw her Daddy and me walk in she was super surprised to see us!
She got an award for being the most caring child in her class!! She is always thinking and wanting to take care of others. Such a good kid!!!
This part of the post is for women. Men you can be done reading here if you want. Rest is all woman folk talk.
I spent over an hour waiting to see my Dr today and when I got to see him I peppered him with questions to make it worth while for my $25 copay. I was there for not a real visit but to ask about permanent birth control and the option for a partial hysterectomy. I think my Dr doesn't necessarily believe that I am done having kids and is trying to steer me away from surgery. After my csection with my youngest they found fibroids on the outside of my uterus and that's why I asked about the partial hysterectomy. I have no idea if the fibroids would be causing off and on back pain and the back spasms I had during the marathon last year. The only thing that would mess this all up is that when I can get it scheduled. He said he was scheduling into March. Right smack in the middle of half marathon training. hmmm I have to think about it.
Anyone else have a partial hysterectomy?

I hope you get some good feedback on your partial hysterectomy.
ReplyDeleteAww! Congrats to your daughter on her award! That is a great one to get! She must get it from her mom ;)
LOL! Naperville was so shady about the price increase! I only realized because YOU pointed it out! What a joke! :P
How cool that your daughter got an award and it was a surprise to her that you two showed up!
ReplyDeleteI haven't had a procedure done called Nova Sure almost a year ago and it took out the linin of my uterus in the doctors office in a 90 second procedure. Stopped all monthly cycles its been quite nice. I don't know if that would work for what you have but I would sure do some research.
My dr won't do an ablasion without permanent bc. His office likes to do the Essure, then wait 3 months and then do the ablasion. I don't have time for that.
DeleteI got really lucky my OB has been the same one since I had my first son she knew my issues with pregnancy and decided to do it because me becoming pregnant was to risky.
DeleteGood God that is terrible about the race!
ReplyDeleteHey there, I personally have not had any kind hysterectomy but I have seen two different kinds done from my mom and my aunt (whom are very close to me) my mom had a full hysterectomy which throws you straight into menopause. (not recommended unless you have history of ovarian or fallopian cancer in your family) With a full you have to be on synethic estrogen and progesterone the rest of your life. My aunt had a partial. They take out your uterus and cervix but leave your ovaries which continue to regulate your estrogen and progresterone. She still has to take some synthetic hormones (not sure why) It still messes with your mind (her words) and hers was also because of fibroids in and outside the uterus that would bleed for months and months.
ReplyDeleteMy aunt has said that if it weren't for the bleeding she would have just 'left everything in'.
I hope you get done what needs to be done and that it relieves your symptoms so you can enjoy life to the best possibility.
I have had a partial - due to fibroids and scar tissue. Procedure was simple and was home the next day. Recovery was not bad either. I started running again a couple months later. I would not change it for the world. I love not having those monthly visits anymore. I still have one ovary so no probelm with hormones. Sucks that it would be during training. You could always postpone the surgery until winter.
ReplyDeleteAwww hooray for the character award! That is awesome and she could not be cuter.
ReplyDeleteNo partial hyst here so no advice. Seems like bad timing running-wise though. :(
Yeah if that race was going to be so popular they should have left the original price gouge I guess. I sure as heck won't be running it anytime soon.
Congrats to your sweet girl! you must be so so proud..! it is my goal to raise KIND people...we need that in our crazy world.
ReplyDeleteI have had a full hyst. My mom had a partial.
I have to say it is the only thing in my life that I regret doing.
I sent me in hell as far as my health goes.
I have so many heath problems since having this surgery
now I know you would keep your ovaries BUT it will affect your system and you are likely to have to take hormones. I takes only bio identical hormones. My mom went in meno at age 41 I think she did not take any hormones...she went crazy and was a real pain to live with for many years.
Do dome reading before doing this.
Read AGELESS
I wish I had read more before going ahead with the surgery. If this was me I would try to take NATURAL PROGESTERONE first. maybe this would be enough to help you.
if your Dr is old fasion and only prescribes syntetic hormones...try looking for another OBGYN who is more open. did your Dr check your current hormone levels? My advice is to read on the subject and see all the options before choosing surgery. no going back after that!
