1. I applied to go back to school last week. I'm just in the process of gathering my transcripts. So many schools are still old fashioned and make filling out paperwork and faxing or mailing them in the rule. My junior college had a very updated computerized system and the new school has already received my transcripts from my associates degree. I also filled out the application for student aid. Twenty plus years ago I was terrified of student loans etc. How far in life I would be today if I wasn't scared of "good debt". I still am today but oh well.
2. Old bad habits come back quickly. As a single gal working nights was easy. If I was in a pinch I would run to a fast food joint pick up something on my way to work to eat later. Then I would probably grab a cheeseburger for "breakfast" on the ride into work. Back then I didn't really worry about calories or points. I was thin. Like really thin. I worked a physical job, ate what I wanted and didn't worry about my weight. HAHANO. Have times changed. Now I had a bright idea of wanting a McDonalds southwest grilled chicken salad for dinner one night. I grabbed that and a cheeseburger. Instead of not worrying about it I kept thinking oy that's 8 points for the burger, 8 - 9 points for the salad w/dressing, damn now how many points do I have left now? Plus with coming home and having to stay up for a bit to see the kids and for my husband to have a dentist appointment I found myself eating/drinking more. Damn it. The whole figure out what will be the best way to eat, manage my points will be hard for 3 out of 7 days a week.
3. Finally after oh I don't know of Avery being in preschool for almost 2 years I finally got smart. See she likes to carry little toys with her on the bus. Sometimes it's beanie baby birds, sometime it's smurfs other times it's strawberry shortcake dolls. In the last week or so she's wanted to carry about 5-7 of these little things along with her blankie. Oy. We've lost a few on the bus and the bus driver is always finding them on the bus. I finally got the bright idea of getting her a little bag to take them to school in. Not just any bag but a clear see through bag. I put all the little smurfs and the a girl doll in the bag last night and hid it until a few minutes before getting on the bus. She sat at the table in awe of her little observation bag.
She carried it to the bus like it was a prize she was so happy with it this morning.

Yay for going back to school! What do you plan to study?
ReplyDeleteAww, Avery is so cute with her little clear bag! I would be excited (now, as an adult) to have a bag of toys :)
I looked into going back to school about 9 years ago but was turned off when I had to get my high school transcripts...I graduated in 1981! Plus I had 2.5 years of college. Obviously I didn't want to go back bad enough to deal with that paperwork - I give you big props for doing this!
ReplyDeleteLove the toy case! What a great idea, and you can see how thrilled she is with it. So cute. :)
I have to call you out on your McDonald's meal, only because you did EXACTLY what I used to do: place your order with an "and a" - I would get a meal "and a" cheeseburger, taco, you name it - like it was a side dish - all the time. Not a good way to control your weight, I can attest to that!
Isn't it funny how the simplest of ideas, like the little bag, don't dawn on you until like you're stressed to me max for months before? I know that's me!! Glad you guys found a win-win solution...she's just adorable!
ReplyDeleteI hope the school gig works out for you. I have thought about it and even went so far as going to an interview...but I just can't imagine doing it cost-wise right now with my daughter in college and twins about to go in a year and a half. Plus, I have so much adult ADD that I don't think I could take more than half a class at a time. Is that doable? :) Good luck!!
